"Deciphering the Creative Act"

This show opened on Friday, November 1, 2013 in Honolulu, Hawaii and was well attended. Bob and Charlie's creative acts continue to define the contemporary fine art movement in Hawaii in the spirit that Louis Pohl envisioned. Their abstract art consistently forces viewers to consider what contemporary fine art is.
“Deciphering the Creative Act” looks at the process by which artists make their decisions. These aforementioned decisions are based on feelings and experiences necessary to develop paintings and sculptures. These decisions are important to capture the “magic” moment when an artist’s creative energy becomes focused and his artwork is complete.  This is an artistic skill that evolves with time.  Knowing when to stop the tool from grinding more metal or wood or when to put the paintbrush down is vital to achieve the creative act.

The Creative Act is completed when the viewer is allowed to engage the artwork and provide their feedback and criticism.  As the viewers experience the show, they are forced to respond positively or negatively as they try to decipher and interpret what the art means. This feedback loop is an important element of the communication process, which is integral to the art making experience.

The show runs from November 1 to December 24, 2013.
