"Contact" a new direction

"Contact" opened last night at the Honolulu Museum, Linekona Gallery and it is a powerful show featuring emerging and established artists who live and work in Hawaii. Congratulations to Maile Meyer and her team who made the show a reality.

Some of the artists featured include: Jessee Christensen, Kazu  Kauinana, Leland Miyano, Harinani Orme, Solomon Enos, Kupaa Hee, Cory Taum, Jerry Vasconcellos, Mark Chai, Drew Broderick, Al Lagunero, Kahi Ching, Meleana Meyer, Kaui Chun, Kai Markell, Maya Portner, Nai'a Lewis, Ahakini Kupihe'a and many other artists.

Contact represents a new approach in art shows because it includes both native and non native artists who are motivated and inspired by living in Hawaii.  The magic of this show is seen in the diversity of contemporary expression.  You do not want to miss the show which will end on April 21, 2014.  This is just the start of a new art tradition in Hawaii and hopefully the Honolulu museum and other Art institutions will recognize the value of supporting the artists via large scale group shows that showcase the diversity of contemporary fine art in Hawaii.
